What I do, Where I come from, What I've done

I like making photographs from all types of found objects. I use materials such as blown out automobile tires, plants, and bugs. I enjoy building beautiful things from discarded and overlooked bits and pieces. I also like documentary photography and alternative photographic processes.

My mother made art, and my father was a chef, so the visual and culinary arts were influential from an early age. Mom went on beach walks and collected seashells and driftwood to make sculptures. Dad did the same thing with food, although his walks were at the butcher shop and produce market. And, of course, dad's sculptures were edible.

My work is included in publications, collections, and exhibitions such as The Photo Review Journal, the Helene Wurlitzer Foundation, and the Sony World Photography Awards. I am also the recipient of an artist grant from the Delaware Division of the Arts. I taught photography at Delaware College of Art and Design, and studio arts at Somerset Academy in Las Vegas, Nevada. I have a BFA from the University of the Arts and an AFA from Delaware College of Art and Design.
